From WW1 Belleau Wood, and during the course of World War II the battalion fought at Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan, Tinian and Okinawa. Then 1/6 fought in the Korean War, Vietnam, Desert Storm and in Iraq and Afghanistan.
